“Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers who can cut through argument, debate and doubt to offer a solution everybody can understand.”
It has been said that a true leader is born, not taught. While I agree that many times it can appear that way, and certainly many leadership traits come easier to some than others, there is no leader that emerges that has not spent time being a student. It is impossible to be a great leader unless you have first spent some time being a great follower.
If you look back at all of the great leaders in our history, it is easy to say that you might disagree with my comments above. History though has a way of telling the story of great leaders after they learned what they needed to learn to become a vital part of history. If you truly study great leaders, you will see that they had a time where they too studied under the tutelage of someone greater than them at the time.
So do not fret! If you are young and wondering when your time will come, the answer is simple…When you have spent the time you need to learning from others that have already been there! Once this occurs, only then will you be ready to truly lead!
